Axial Fan Motors – Lafert Pad Mounting Series

Motors for direct-drive axial fans with four removable pads at 90° instead of feet: a compact body with nothing in the way of the airflow. Lafert AGPE (IE3), AGQE (IE4) and HPS permanent magnet (IE5), 0.37 – 37 kW, IEC frame 80 – 160. Supplied by KJ Export to fan builders and HVAC projects across the Gulf.

Replaceable padsa stripped thread is not a scrapped motor

Why pad mounting for axial fans

Less airflow obstruction

Four pads at 90° on the motor body replace the feet, so the motor disturbs the air stream as little as possible and the fan uses less energy.

Replaceable pads

If a thread strips, the motor is not scrap – just replace the pad. Pads are tested to demanding pull tests.

Same fan, higher efficiency

The pads fit Lafert’s standard multi-mount housings, so you can move from IE3 to IE4 or IE5 without redesigning the fan.

Built for outdoor fans

High corrosion protection to ISO 12944, wide ambient temperature range, special insulation, voltage and frequency.

Important: cooled by the fan airflow (IC418 – TEAO)

Pad mounting motors have no own cooling fan. They are cooled by the air stream of the axial fan they drive (IC418, totally enclosed air-over). Install them only inside the fan airflow – in a duct, wall or roof fan, condenser or cooling tower fan. For a motor outside the air stream choose a standard fan-cooled motor such as Lafert IE3 or IE4.

Applications

Axial fan with Lafert pad mounted motor

Duct and wall axial fans

Industrial and commercial ventilation, car park and tunnel ventilation.

HVAC and cooling

Condenser and dry-cooler fans, air handling, cooling towers – where the motor runs in the air stream all year.

Hazardous areas?

For axial fans in Zone 1 / 2 use the flameproof RAEL Tube motor, Ex db IIC, with a 36–38% lower profile.

For Gulf HVAC and fan projects

Axial fans on rooftops and condensers in the Gulf run in high ambient temperatures, sand and humid coastal air. Tell us the maximum air temperature at the motor, the airflow velocity over the motor, the supply (for example 400 V 50 Hz or 380 V 60 Hz) and the corrosion category of the site, and we select the winding, protection and paint. AGPE IE3 and AGQE IE4 meet the Saudi SASO 2893 IE3 requirement.

Frequently asked questions

What is a pad mounting motor?

An IEC motor without feet, fixed by four pads at 90° on the motor body (IM B30). It is designed for direct-drive axial fans, where a slim motor without protruding feet disturbs the airflow less.

Can a pad mounting motor run without the fan airflow?

No. The motors are IC418 (totally enclosed air-over) and have no own cooling fan; they rely on the air stream of the fan. Outside the air stream use a standard fan-cooled motor.

Do the HPS IE5 motors need a drive?

Yes. HPS are synchronous permanent magnet motors and run only on a frequency inverter. Their IE5 efficiency already includes the extra losses caused by the drive.

Are AGPE and AGQE the same motors as AMPE and AMQE?

They share the ratings and multi-mount housings of the Lafert IE3 and IE4 ranges in frame 80 – 160, but are built with pad mounting and without a cooling fan for air-over operation.

What if a pad thread is damaged?

The pads are replaceable: change the pad, not the motor.

Which motor for an axial fan in a hazardous area?

Use an explosion-proof motor: the RAEL Tube series is a flameproof Ex db IIC motor designed for ATEX axial and duct fans.
